“Boop-oop-a-doop!” See BOOP! The Musical on Broadway

Betty Boop is venturing to New York City! Directed by Tony Award-winning director and choreographer, Jerry Mitchell, BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical will begin previews at the Broadhurst Theatre on March 11th. With music by David Foster and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead, this extravaganza brings Max Fleischer’s iconic 1930’s cartoon character to life. Betty’s black-and-white world turns to color, as she discovers life outside of celebrity in this empowering musical that reminds her and the world, “You are capable of amazing things.”
BOOP! is a Broadway spectacle perfect for all ages jam-packed with show-stopping production numbers and a message of “Living your life in full color.” Teachers and students alike will appreciate the show for its story of empowerment, confronting your fears, and chasing your dreams.
The new musical stars Jasmine Amy Rogers (Evil, Toon in with Me) as Betty Boop, Faith Prince (Guys and Dolls) as Valentina, Ainsley Melhamn (Aladdin) as Dwayne, Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys, Madam Secretary) as Raymond, Stephen DeRosa (Into The Woods, Mr. Saturday Night) as Grampy, Anastacia McCleskey (Suffs) as Carol, Angelica Hale (America’s Got Talent) as Trisha, Phillip Huber (Oz the Great and Powerful) as the puppeteer for Pudgy the Dog, and Aubie Merrylees (KPOP) as Oscar. This cast will be reprising their roles from the world premiere production at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago.
Cast also includes Lawrence Alexander (Follies), Courtney Arango, Colin Bradbury (Elf), Tristen Buettel (Bad Cinderella), Joshua Michael Burrage (Cats), Victoria Byrd (Back to the Future), Dan Castiglione, Rebecca Corrigan, Ian Gallagher Fitzgerald (Kinky Boots), RJ Higton (The Outsiders), Nina Lafarga (In the Heights), Morgan McGhee (Jelly’s Last Jam), Ryah Nixon (The Great Gatsby), Christian Probst (Bad Cinderella), Ricky Schroeder, Gabriella Sorrentino (Hamilton), Derek Jordan Taylor (The Great Gatsby), Lizzy Tucker, Amy Van Norstrand (Holiday Inn), Damani Van Rensalier (Hadestown), and David Wright Jr. (Aladdin).
The creative team includes scenic designer David Rockwell, costume designer Gregg Barnes, lighting designer Philip S. Rosenberg, sound designer Gareth Owen, projection designer Finn Ross, hair and wig designer, Sabana Majeed, makeup designer Michael Clifton, illusion designer Skylar Fox, marionette designer The Huber Marionettes, music supervisor and arranger Daryl Waters, orchestrator Doug Besterman, dance music arranger Zack Mark, music director Rick Fox, associate director DB Bonds, and associate choreographers Rachelle Rak and Jon Rua. Creative is also reprising their roles from the Chicago production.
